London to Bangkok
29.01.2008 33 °C
Hey everyone, hope all is well back home. This is the first chance we have had to update you all on how the trip has began. Hope you enjoy.
Our departure from London was not exactly what you would call standard. Our families decided to meet up for the first time and the location for this event was none other than the Ritz. The food was amazing and I think everyone really enjoyed it. We have and will never again eat somewhere like that again it was an amazing way to say bye to everyone. The good bye as you would imagine was rather teary. But who would expect anything else.
Our flight was good. We managed to sleep for most of the way which meant it didnt feel to bad. Did however watch one of the worst films ever Stardust. Never watch this film it sucks!!!
On arriving in Bangkok it was a huge culture shock. The airport was mannic with people everywhere trying to get you to buy things off them. We managed to find a taxi to take us to our Hotel, well the taxi took us most of the way and then droppped us off on Khao San Road which is where all the backpackers are. The only problem was we had no idea where the hotel was. So we are both walking down a road with our huge backpacks on asking every Thai person we can find if they know where it is. Eventually we find it and we were very pleasantly surprised. The room are spacious and very clean, what more can you ask.
On our first whole day we went out sightseeing. Everything is so different. We cannot get over how many street seelers there can be in one place. The pictures are the only way to show you what this place is like. So we hope you enjoy them. We had a ride on a Tuc-tuc which is a very weird experience. It is like a motorike with a sofa stuck on the back but it is the quickest way to get around, while at the same time being very entertaining. In the evening we went to a restaurant on the 64th floor of the state tower. The views were unbelievable and the food wasnt bad either to say the least.
Our second day began at the grand palace which is the most amazing building I have ever seen. The place is huge and there is so much gold it could pay of world debt if they sold it. Tonight we are off to watch Thai boxing. Apparently if you sit in the front rows you get the fighers blood splatted over you at no extra cost. bet you can't wait to see the photos of that!
Tomorrow we travel to Cambodia and we look forward to updating you on how we get on.
Love you all, Speak soon.
